While the Yakutat Lodge was established in the mid 1960’s, Ken became involved in 1980. The Fanning‘s have 35 yrs experience guiding Hunters, Fishermen, and Adventure travel in and around Yakutat. The seasoned staff exemplifies the best of friendly Alaskan service, and is World renowned for incredible hospitality, and professional Knowledge. We own all our own Ocean vessels, Drift Boats, Airplanes (both float and wheel planes), and vehicles and employ our own guides, captains, and pilots. We are the only lodge operation that hold permits and user days for all of the forelands rivers (Anrnklin, Italio, Akwe Situk, Lost, Tawah, Dangerous, Ankau, Russel Fiord, etc) and have the only operating Situk River camp as well as all US Coast Guard , and Alaska Department of Fish and Game and US Forest Service licenses and permits. The owners and managers live in Yakutat, and although the main fishing seasons are seasonal, our commitment to the community and your enjoyment is full time. The lodge is operational all year.

Proprietors—The Fanning Family Has run one of Alaska’s premier wilderness outfitting businesses for three decades; sharing hunting and fishing ,and high adventure travel experiences throughout Alaska with friends & clients from around the world. Ken, a former Alaskan state legislator, is a full time hunting and fishing guide and outfitter. Jill’s reputation as Alaska’s premier hostess was recognized worldwide, and we continue to emulate her guiding principles of excellent service and Alaskan Hospitality. Kip is Alaska’s youngest "old-time" guide, having been in the business all of his 32 years. Tami keeps us straight (bookkeeping), and Kelsey (age 2) runs the show now .Long time Alaskan residents, intimately familiar with the special needs & desires of visitors to the North Country, they have personally chosen Yakutat as the finest Alaskan travel destination with the greatest variety of wildlife, fishing & spectacular Alaskan scenery.

Managers-- Dan and Hope Anderson bring many years of Alaskan Lodge and hospitality business experience, as well as enough salmon and halibut fishing expertise to write a good book. Their "go get 'em attitude" and know how improved several operational aspects of the lodge last year, and added to everyone’s organization and enjoyment.

Meet the rest of Our Guides and Skippers who are Legends of the Ocean and Rivers in their own right. They are all unique characters with wonderfully individual personalities, but share a passion for sharing Alaska, and are extremely capable, professional, and locally experienced guides and captains. To ensure the finest in personal service our guest to employee ratio is seldom more than 2 to 1 and many of our employees have been with our lodge family for 5 or 10 years or more.
